MOTHERSHIP CONNECTED:
The Women of Parliament-Funkadelic
“,

by Seth Neblett

I illustrated the cover for the music history book, as well as designing the layout that wraps around it.

The wildly successful 1970s artists Parliament (a Space Funk band) and Funkadelic (a Funk Rock band) were actually the same people, making two different approaches to dance music on separate labels. The male singers and players, led by George Clinton, have received props for years, but this book finally gives all of the women of P-Funk the spotlight they deserve.

Written by Seth Neblett (the son of the mover and shaker in the band, Mallia Franklin), this behind-the-scenes story reveals the hidden history of the evolving band and how women were vital every step of the way. Hailed from Publishers Weekly to Ms. Magazine, it is a must-read for music buffs, funkheads, riot grrrls, historians, and hip thinkers alike.
